zuid holland jar/jug

This beautiful zuid holland jar or jug has a wonderful shape.

on one side is a boat

On the other the ubiquitous windmill.

Zuid holland pieces have a drawing of a small house on them. The date mark seems to place this piece in the 1950s.  The website Gouda Design which is linked on this site has a lot of very good information about zuid holland.

Windmill. From Pyramide Factory?

This tiny windmill is one of a pair. It is definitely hand painted and has makers marks.

The triangular mark on the left looks similar to the one by the Pyramide factory. Nobody seems to know much about this factory.

Pyramide was located in Gouda and closed in the 1990s.

I could be completely wrong about these marks and if anybody knows otherwise, please let me know.

Regina Factory Jug

This cute little jug comes from the Regina Factory. I spied it in the middle of a group of blue and white- it stood out because of its colour, it was less white than the pieces around it. This is because it was Delft rather than porcelain.

I also find that Delft is a little bit heavier than copies.

This piece has the Regina Mark on its base.

The Regina factory was founded in 1898 as a pipe factory in Gouda, The WB on the factory mark stands for the owners of the factory in 1915. This mark is from post 1945. The jug is probably from the 1950s and it should be hand painted.

What is Delftware

Delfware in the case of this website refers to ceramics originating from certain factories in the the Netherlands. It refers to the tradition that started in the early 17th Century when Chinese porcelain was imported to Europe and Dutch potters decided to imitate it.

This website will concentrate on my collection of Delft Blue. Below is a picture of some of my lower quality items.
